Flashback Friday: CR05

At the end of the famed “last show” on December 2nd 2000, those in attendance were treated with a little CD gift as the left the Metro. The gift came with a note reading: Please enjoy this special gift from the Smashing Pumpkins and Metro. This is a recording of the Smashing Pumpkins’ first show at Metro on October 5th 1988. The artwork is by James Iha. We hope you enjoyed the show and we thank you for your many years of support. -The Smashing Pumpkins And Metro.

The disc would be known as CR05 (which is stamped on the left side of the CD) standing for Constantinople Records, a label which Billy Corgan had created and used for the distribution of Machina II, 25 vinyl copies.

The signficates of this show is that this was the first Smashing Pumpkins show at the Metro. As well as the bands first show with new drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. This recording is currently available for free download on Archive.org
